Sarin’s brave move

Arun Sarin is either very brave or very foolish. By appointing Vittorio Colao as deputy chief executive, the Vodafone boss has brought back into the company one of the few people who could obviously replace him. The Vodafone board has been under pressure from shareholders for the best part of a year to oust Sarin. At July’s annual meeting, 9.5% of investors voted against him.
