A private equity approach can be a powerful wake-up call for those who need it. But what of those who don’t? That’s the situation at J Sainsbury, the £11bn UK supermarket group bracing itself for a bid from a buyout consortium. With all engines firing and the shares up 65% in the last year, Sainsbury’s may struggle to find ways of generating more value.
