Do-gooders have plenty of ideas about how to make poverty history. Few of them work. Most fail to grapple with the problem of how to distribute aid effectively in countries ruled by corrupt leaders. But here is something useful that rich countries could do. They should allow for greater temporary worker immigration, especially of unskilled labour.
