Uprisings in Sicily have been troubling mainland Italians for over 2,000 years. Alessandro Profumo, the Unicredit boss, is just the latest to be tested by the independent-minded island. Despite being owned 100% by Unicredit, Banco di Sicilia has kicked out the man Profumo put in to run the bank - effectively declaring its independence.
