French politics: Credibility question

This is more than mid-term voter fatigue. Nicolas Sarkozy’s conservative party has been handed a resounding defeat by French voters in the country’s regional elections. The socialist party, along with its green allies and a more leftish coalition, will rule all but one of France’s 22 regions. This is certainly a worrying result for the French president.
