Animal spirits are flowing once again at E.on. The German utility has crashed into the bruising Spanish takeover battle over Endesa and made a bid valuing Spain’s largest utility at E55bn. Not only would the deal be the largest acquisition ever in the sector if successful, but the resulting company would be one of the largest in the world.
