The drums are beating in earnest for a break-up of BAA. Britain’s flag-carrier, British Airways, added its voice this week to demands that the airport operator’s monopoly over London airports be dismantled. It is easy to see why some people would want to give BAA an almighty kick in the teeth. The August terrorist scare has shown the group in its worst light - as a sludgy and unresponsive monopolist.
